Want to watch Sky TV without signing up for a year-long subscription? Our handy guide will show you how.

With a huge selection of entertainment, movie and sports channels to choose from, it's easy to see why Sky TV is so popular. But the prices for a full Sky subscription can be eye-watering.

While the lure of shows such as Westworld and Game of Thrones can be appealing, the thought of being tied in to an expensive contract can feel off-putting. The good news is you don't have to take out a long Sky subscription to watch Sky channels.

The Sky Go app is available for all Sky TV customers at no extra cost, so you can watch Sky on the go on your mobile, tablet or laptop. LaLiga TV is available via Premier Sports. To watch it live you will require a Sky TV box, with packages starting at £5.99-a-month or £49-a-year. A full Premier Sports package costs £11.99-a-month. La Liga TV was launched on 13 January 2020 through Premier Sports on Sky UK 's television platform. Lasting for three seasons, the deal made Premier Sports the league's exclusive broadcast partner in the UK and Ireland. Sky customers were given free access to the channel for its first two weeks.

Read on for more information on TV services that will let you watch Sky TV without a Sky subscription, including Now TV, Virgin Media and TalkTalk.

Use our round up of the best and worst TV and broadband providers to discover how satisfied Sky customers are in comparison to those with other suppliers.

Try Now TV

Now TV is an internet TV streaming service powered by Sky. It offers live streaming and on-demand content from popular Sky channels - so, you can watch Sky shows as they're going out live, or catch up on them at a later date.

Crucially, you don't have to be a Sky subscriber to use Now TV. Instead you simply buy 'passes' for a day, week or month to access the channels that you want. When your pass expires it rolls over into a monthly subscription fee, but you can cancel at any time. See how Now TV compares to popular streaming services like Netflix and Amazon Prime, using our TV streaming service reviews.

Streaming services broadcast over the internet, so you don't need a satellite dish to watch Now TV (though you do need a broadband connection of at least 2.5Mbps or a mobile signal of 180Kbps if you plan to watch using 3G or 4G).

You'll also need a device that can use the Now TV app. Some smart TVs come with this preinstalled, but if yours doesn't, you can watch Now TV in a few different ways.

One of the easiest, cheapest ways to watch Now TV is to buy a dedicated Sky Now TV box or smart stick, which cost as little as £15. This may even include a trial of free passes to watch the content, which in effect pays for the cost of the Now TV box itself.

A YouTube box will also give you access to the Now TV app - or you can install the app on a tablet, smartphone or PC.

Add Sky channels to a service from another provider

If you've already got a TV subscription with a different provider, such as Virgin Media or BT TV, you can add most of Sky's channels to these services.

To do this, you add a 'bolt on' to your existing pay TV service. For example, you can pay BT £16 a month to add 11 Sky Movie channels to your package. There's usually no contract to do this, you just pay on a monthly basis.

If you're looking for some channels to keep the little ones happy, you can simply add children's channels to yourTV and broadband bundle - for example TalkTalk's Kids Boost adds nine children's channels, including Nickelodeon, Boomerang and Cartoon Network.

Use a shared Sky subscription

Liga

If a friend or family member already subscribes to Sky, then you can register as a secondary user and still watch Sky shows.

Now TV (see above), for example, allows you to register up to four compatible devices (such as a Now TV box, a laptop, or a tablet). The service lets you watch programmes on two devices at the same time, so four members of an extended family won't all be able to tune into Game of Thrones simultaneously on different devices.

Alternatively, Sky Go is a streaming service that allows Sky subscribers to watch programmes away from the home. This lets Sky customers register two devices (or four, if you pay more for Sky Go Extra).

In effect, this would let you log in to watch Sky programming if you used the account details of a family member who has a Sky subscription. However, users are meant to be part of the same household as the primary Sky account holder, according to Sky.

Read our Sky TV and broadband review to find out what Sky customers had to say about the service they receive in our latest satisfaction survey.

...or, stick with Freeview

If you decide that none of the above options work for you, then one alternative is to stick with Freeview. It may not offer the same sports or movie range as Sky, but it still gives you a huge selection of channels for no cost at all (other than the charge for a TV licence).

With the addition of a Freeview PVR, you can pause, rewind and record live TV, as well as setting a planner and series-link. These are all features you would get with a Sky box. You won't, however, have access to the same sports, movies and entertainment channels. Head to our round-up of the Best Buy Freeview PVRs to see which models impressed the experts in our lab.

If that's not enough for you, and you want even more channels, then Freesat offers more than 200 channels and on-demand TV from the likes of the BBC and ITV. To get it, you just need a Freesat box or a TV with Freesat built-in, plus a Freesat satellite dish. As with Freeview, there's no ongoing subscription cost. Read in depth reviews of all the latest models using our Freesat PVRs and set top box reviews.

If you’re trying to find out where to watch La Liga on US TV, you’ve come to the right place.

Last updated: September 2, 2020

With La Liga’s duo of Barcelona and Real Madrid among the most popular clubs in the world, there are plenty of people that wish to watch, listen and stream matches of the Spanish league here in the United States.

Where to watch La Liga on US TV

beIN SPORTS and beIN SPORTS Español have the exclusive television rights for La Liga matches through May 2024.

While beIN SPORTS Español is a Spanish-language network, the programming on that channel is usually slightly different than the English-language beIN SPORTS channel. There will be games shown on beIN SPORTS Español that won’t be shown on beIN SPORTS, and vice-versa. Your best bet is to review our La Liga TV schedule, which is updated throughout the season.

beIN SPORTS, the relatively new sports channel (created in 2012), won the contract to air the Spanish league’s matches here in America in 2012, as the Qatari-based company outbid ESPN, FOX Sports, and GolTV in the process. And in the summer of 2015, beIN SPORTS renewed its agreement to continue broadcasting La Liga for five more seasons in both English-language and Spanish-language through 2019/2020. Surprisingly, given concerns about distribution, LaLiga in August 2019 extended its TV rights agreement with beIN SPORTS for four more years, which will ensure that LaLiga will have been on beIN SPORTS for 13 consecutive years by the time the contract ends in 2024.

On a typical weekend, the Real Madrid and Barcelona games are shown on both beIN SPORTS and beIN SPORTS en Español, while the games featuring Atletico Madrid are almost always televised on beIN SPORTS. Elsewhere, the majority of the games from La Liga each weekend are shown across beIN SPORTS Connect, beIN SPORTS and/or beIN SPORTS en Español.

Looking to watch La Liga matches online from your office, home or on the go? If you live in the USA, there are several options to catch all the action.

We Recommend:
US Only.

La Liga has a schedule where most of the games are played back-to-back so you can watch LaLiga throughout the entire weekend. Kickoff times are typically:

• Fridays 2:45pm ET,
• Saturdays 7:30am ET, 10:15am ET, 12:30pm ET, 2:45pm ET
• Sundays 6:30am ET, 10:15am ET, 12:30pm ET, 2:45pm ET
• Mondays 2:30pm ET

Plus, there are some game weeks where games are played midweek across Tuesday and Wednesdays.

While La Liga’s coverage is pretty comprehensive on TV thanks to beIN SPORTS and beIN SPORTS en Español, not everyone has access to those channels. Or other people prefer to watch games online, on the go via mobile or not subscribe to TV (i.e., a cord cutter).

The viewing options online are plentiful. beIN SPORTS’ coverage of La Liga can be found on:

• fuboTV (free 7-day trial),
• Fanatiz (free 7-day trial, and then upgrade to their $7.99/month plan)
• Sling World Sports (free 7-day trial),
• Vidgo – includes ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN Deportes, FS1 and more,
Sling TV (free 7 day trial); beIN SPORTS and beIN SPORTS en Español are available via the Best of Sports and Spanish TV Extra packages, and
• beIN SPORTS Connect.

The advantage of watching beIN SPORTS and beIN SPORTS Español on fuboTV is that, unlike some beIN SPORTS networks on US TV, the picture quality is in HD (not SD). Plus no TV subscription is required and fuboTV also integrates access to beIN SPORTS Connect streams via the signup page. The same applies to Fanatiz, too, at a much more cost-effective rate ($7.99/month).

Last but not least, the prestigious Copa del Rey competition is available on television with beIN SPORTS except for the final, which is shown on ESPN2 and ESPN Deportes.

The Spanish Supercopa competition continues to be available via ESPN Deportes over the last few years. The Supercopa pits the defending La Liga champions against the reigning Copa del Rey winners in a two-legged tie during the month of August every season.

Radio coverage

La Liga Tv Schedule

La Liga (and some second-tier Segunda División) matches can also be found on TuneIn radio streaming, as well as SiriusXM FC. These radio stations provide both live coverage of Spanish league matches and also commentary/opinions throughout the week.

Spanish cup competitions

Finally, of course if you want to interact with other fans while watching your favorite Spanish club’s matches you could always find a local pub in or near your area. Many club websites provide a list of official pubs here in America which show most, if not all, of that team’s matches.
